Dear readers
My friend Dr. Matthias asked me to tell you briefly about recognition - and why it was so important to me. I am Ahlem Souraoui, a passionate nurse from Tunisia, and today I would like to talk to you about a topic that is crucial for many foreign nurses in Germany: the recognition of our qualifications. The process of recognition may seem overwhelming at first, but I want to encourage you to pursue your dream because it is possible - I am living proof of that.
As foreign nurses, each of us brings unique skills and experience that can enrich the German healthcare system. The recognition of our qualifications enables us to work as official nurses in Germany and use our knowledge for the benefit of patients.
My own journey to get my qualifications recognized was challenging but rewarding. I first carefully translated and notarized my documents, including my degrees and work certificates. Then I submitted the application for recognition to the relevant body. It is important to submit all the required documents in full to avoid delays.
Another step on my path was the language test. Good German language skills are not only essential for working with patients, but also for documentation and communication within the team. Successfully taking the language test was a milestone for me.
Patience is essential during the recognition process. It can take some time until all examinations are completed and recognition is officially confirmed. During this time, it is important to continue your education and stay up to date in order to be well equipped for nursing practice in Germany.
Dear readers, I can say from my own experience that the process of recognition is a journey worth taking. Today, I work as a proud nurse in Germany and can bring my passion and knowledge to my work. Don't be discouraged - with determination and support, you too can realize your dreams.
If you are in a similar situation, I encourage you to find out about the specific requirements and steps for recognition in your state. TERN can help you with this. Each path may be unique, but with commitment, you can successfully have your qualifications recognized.
Sincerely, Ahlem Souraoui
